Lunar New Year of the Dog 2018

The rooster is about to fly its coup, not to be back for another 12 years. Perhaps it didn't want to become food for the dog sneaking right behind it. Yes, 2018 is year of the dog, and while dogs can look and be ferocious, everyone knows they are really gentle intelligent creatures and man's (or woman's) best friend.  Likewise, people born in the year of the dog  tend to exhibit the traits of dogs such as loyalty, cleverness, courage, reliability and kindness. As the Chinese zodiac is further divided into the elements of water, fire, earth, gold, and wood, 2018 is also the year of the earth dog which known for its strong work ethics, good commication skills, and stubborness.

This year the Lunar New Year falls on Friday, February 2016 and once again celebrations are abound. The annual and largest Tet festival, held by UVSA (Union of Vietnamese Student Associations), is returning to theOC Fair & Events Center for 3 Days celebrations from Feb.16 - Feb.18.  Also the nationally televised Tet parade will be marching down Bolsa Ave. in front of the Asian Garden Mall  in Little Saigon on Saturady, Feb. 17  from 9am - 12pm. Likewise, many other Lunar New Year events will be taking place all over California and in Asian communities all around the world. It's time to put all the craziness in this world aside and rejoice in this second New Year event. Take a moment to be thankful for your life and the people in your life and pray this new year will bring better health, success, and joy for everyone. Chúc Mừng Năm Mới!
