Little Saigon Night Market : Summertime Madness at Asian Garden Mall
The Little Saigon Night Market is back again for 2016 after a successful summer last year. For those who haven’t experienced this open air market, it’s happening weekends, Friday through Sunday, until the end of summer. The market occurs in the front parking lot of the Asian Garden Mall and features plenty of booths serving specialty Vietnamese food and drinks from local businesses. Others sell clothes, music and all kinds of trinkets. There’s also music and entertainment to keep the things festive throughout the night.
The best I can describe this event is a fair at night with a lot of Vietnamese people! Young and old, families and couples, it is mostly a Vietnamese crowd with sprinkles of other ethnicities. I haven’t seen this many Vietnamese in one place since I went to Vietnam, and this certainly brings back memories. Only the Lunar New Year draws this many Vietnamese together, except this is happening every summer weekend, so there is plenty of time to experience a Little Saigon in the night.
As you can guess parking can get pretty crazy so arrive early and take your time. There is a parking lot in the back of the mall, but if you can’t find a spot you’ll just have to look for one around the area. Be a defensive driver and watch out for those notorious Bolsa drivers. Then enjoy a piece of this Vietnamese culture that’s shaping to be a yearly tradition in Little Saigon.
